Problem:
Customer on 3.7 build of onbase reported client continually closed while processing a certain COLD file. They could process other COLD files without problems. This particular COLD process worked on the 3.5.4 build they had used up until recently.
Solution:
There is a 36 character limit on ID fields in COLD (I'm not sure if this is for 'all' ID fields; also, I didn't find this limit documented anywhere). The customer had an ID field set that exceeded this limit. This overrun of characters then interfered with other field settings as OnBase attempted to process this report. I don't know whether the source error is generated from the database or the client itself, but it is sufficient to make the client close completely with no error messages ever being displayed.
The customer shortened the offending ID field and the COLD process worked successfully.
It was suggested that the previous build of the client may have just truncated the content of this setting, thus it did not cause the same problem with the client.
